How much does wedding ceremony music cost?
Choose the musicians who will play during your ceremony. For a church wedding we show the church fees separately, so it’s clear what goes to the musicians and what goes to the church.

Where the money goes
- String quartetprelude and ceremony, about 1 hour$1,100
- For an outdoor ceremony, musicians need power and shade. With strings, plan a rain backup - the instruments can’t get wet.
- Choose the music with your musicians and officiant 2-4 weeks before the wedding. A ceremony usually needs 8-12 pieces, including the prelude, processional, and recessional.
How we calculate
- Each musician is a separate line with a price range for a ceremony of about 30 minutes plus a prelude while guests arrive, about an hour of playing in total.
- Church fees are shown separately from the music, because they go to the church, not to the musicians. They vary a lot - members often pay less, so we show a typical range.
- For a ceremony at your venue or outdoors, we leave out the organist and the church fees.

Questions and answers
Do we have to pay the church organist?
Often, yes. Many churches require their own organist or music director, or charge a “bench fee” when someone else plays. Ask at your first meeting with the church.
Quartet, trio, or a soloist?
A string quartet sounds fullest and suits larger ceremonies. A trio or duo costs about a third less, and a solo violinist, guitarist, or harpist works well for small or intimate ceremonies.
