- For planning, not counting the wedding day
- Less than a year: If you haven’t booked the venue, photographer, and band or DJ yet, that’s priority number one - peak-season dates in June, September, and October go first.
- Sunday weddings often get the same discounts as Fridays - and on a holiday weekend (Memorial Day, Labor Day) your guests still have Monday off.
How we calculate
- We count calendar days in your time zone, from today to the wedding day. The result does not change depending on what time you open the page.
- Months are real calendar months (with 28, 30, or 31 days), not 30-day blocks.
- Saturdays left are the Saturdays from tomorrow until the day before the wedding - real time for fittings, tastings, and vendor meetings.

- Cake, hair and makeup: 4-6 months
- Save-the-dates: 6-8 months before, invitations: 6-8 weeks before
Questions and answers
Do you count the wedding day?
No. “10 days left” means the wedding is 10 days from today - tomorrow it will say 9, and on the day itself 0.
Why don’t the months match the days divided by 30?
Because we count them like a calendar: March 15 to May 15 is exactly 2 months, even though it is 61 days.
When should we get the marriage license?
It depends on the state: most licenses are valid for 30-90 days, and some states have a waiting period of 1-3 days. Check your county clerk’s rules and apply about a month before the wedding.
